CLUSTER SECTOR DEVELOPMENT

Enhancing the competitiveness of a sector through collective interventions, which are more likely to be successful than isolated efforts, is the central principle underpinning clustering.

Clusters established as Public-Private-Partnerships (PPPs) represent an opportunity for improving competitiveness, enhancing capabilities and accelerated growth to the benefit of both the public and private stakeholders provided they are constituted appropriately.

We have substantial expertise in respect of clusters based on research into clustering, visits to international best practice examples of clustering, and learning through practical application.

Key principles that our experience has shown to be central to a successful and sustainable cluster are:

  • Partnership
  • Industry leadership and ownership
  • Trust relations
  • Reliability and consistency
  • Flexibility

Our service capabilities span cluster strategy development, management, facilitation and selected service delivery to optimize the upgrading of industries.

“Being new to clustering, we needed guidance as to best practices in a developing country. B&M Analysts did an excellent job of showing us the way. We have grown in leaps and bounds because of the investment we made in choosing their services.”

Gerald Hopkins, VP of Cluster Inc

“Since working with BMA, our competitiveness has gone through the roof. Once we learnt where we needed to focus our energies we exceeded our goals quarter by quarter.”

Anna Waters, HOC at Emergence

CLUSTER SUPPLY CHAIN UPGRADING

Lead firms in a supply chain use clustering to align and enhance supply chain capabilities.

Given that the principle of clustering is in essence one of enhancing the competitiveness of a sector through collective interventions, a cluster approach to developing and managing supply chains can unlock improved supplier competitiveness, enhanced supply chain capabilities and accelerated growth. We have substantial expertise in respect of clusters based on research into clustering, visits tointernational best practice examples of clusters, and learning through practical application.

Our service capabilities span cluster strategy development, management, facilitation and selected service delivery to optimise the upgrading of supply chains.
